Troubleshooting NG Magazine Subscription Difficulties

Dear National Geographic magazine subscribers:

We are sorry you have been experiencing difficulties accessing your subscription on iPad. Please follow these steps to restore your subscription to National Geographic magazine immediately.

Step 1: Disconnect your iPad from your computer

The iPad should not be connected to your computer with the USB cable.

Step 2: Delete the NG Magazine Application

On the home screen of the iPad, press and hold down on the NG Magazine icon until icons on your home screen begin to shake or wiggle. Click the X on the top left of the NG Magazine icon to delete the app from your iPad. (see illustration 1)

Step 3: Remove the app from your iTunes library

Open iTunes on your computer. In the left-side menu, click the Library section in the top left, then select Apps. In the list of Apps, find the NG Magazine app and press the delete key, then press the "Remove" button on the pop-up to confirm. (see illustration 2)

Step 4: Connect your iPad to your computer and sync

Plug your iPad into your computer with the USB cable. If your device is not set to automatically sync, go into iTunes on your computer and select your device in the left-side menu. Click the "Sync" button in the bottom-right of the iTunes window. (see illustration 4)

Step 5: Reinstall the NG Magazine app

On your iPad, go to the App Store and search for the NG Magazine app. The app will either have an "install" or "free" button next to it. (see illustration 5).

Note: Sometimes it takes a minute for the App Store to realize you've deleted the app. If it says "Free", that's okay.

After installing, launch the NG Magazine app by tapping the icon. You will be presented with a popup that asks if you would like to restore your purchases. It is very important to choose "Restore" on this popup. (see illustration 6)

Please note: These steps restore your account access to National Geographic magazine subscriptions immediately. You can choose to download current and previous issues at a later time.
